The best lifestyle choices for anti-aging

Stop age’ing and look younger already!

Here are some my tips I stand by for my own anti-ageing battle!

1) Get sufficient sleep!
8 hours of sleep is needed in order for our bodies to regenerate. But importantly, the time frame of between 11pm to 2am is the most importantly because that’s when your skin rejuvenates. All the creams and serums you put on your face? Yea, those will be best working in that time slot. Recently, I have a colleague who is trying to change her life by sleeping at 10pm every day and then waking at 5am. Let’s see if that’ll benefit her! :P

2) Drink heaps of water!
Yes. Drink water for younger looking skin! Drinking water is important to keep skin hydrated. And, as we all know, hydrated skin is younger looking skin cos dry skin is more prone to wrinkles and has less resilience.  And we’re not including the soft drinks, and caffeine here people! :)

3) Stop smoking!
I have never and will never take up smoking. Besides the notorious effects of of smoking that we have all been told a million times over, smoking actually undermine the effects of any anti-aging products that you use. Research has shown that exposure to cigarette smoke significantly increases skin wrinkles and dryness, and also depletes your body of Vitamin C. If you’re a smoker and you want to quit, you might want to check out HPB’s website on tips on how to quit smoking.

4) Sunscreen!!!
The sun is very very damaging to our skin. So always always protect yourself! Make sure you use sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays! And it doesn’t mean you can’t get a tan if you protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen!

5) Exercise Regularly
Last, but not least, exercise. Exercise has become just a huge part of my life that I cannot imagine having to go on months without exercise. But that’s just me. Although I have not found any hard evidence that proves that exercise will help you look younger (besides toning up your muscles and increasing blood flow), but look at what happens if you don’t exercise (like, the diseases that you will be more prone to might cut short your life). Also, inverted yoga poses like handstands and headstands will increase blood flow to your face and help to make you look younger!

And besides, my 50 year old yoga/gym instructor looks like he is only 38.
