I got meself a new phone!
Yippie! It cost me SGD138 with a two year contract with M1.
Presenting…… my NEW LLG Viewty | KU990 PINK!
The LG Viewty | KU990 is the new phone by LG and… I love it! The 3.0 inch LCD touchscreen occupies pretty much all of the front of the LG Viewty | KU990. All the number pads are all on the touch screen itself and can be hidden away! It’s definitely something new for someone who has always been having fun pressing on really hard buttons for number pads.
Of course, having a wide sensitive area for the touch screen so that you hit it right every time is crucial to use intuitively and regularly.
It’s a GOOD change.
Besides the great touch screen feature, the 5 megapixel camera is like god-sent! It also has other stuff it boasts about, a xenon flash, auto focus, and ISO sensitivity adjustment, which I will tell you if it’s useful when I find out how crucial that is. But this is a GOOD camera phone. That I have to applaud! :) I find myself running around without a need for a digital camera now! One less item in my handbag!
Why… it even looks like a digital camera! Love it! But what I feel is really considerate of them is to feature a front facing camera that caters for usual video calling, but can be used to shoot stills containing yourself. There is also a very good in-built photo editing application which I had fun playing around with on the boring train rides – nothing beats photoshop still though.
Viewing photos is super cool given that the KU990 comes with a photo viewer that can display pictures as if they were thrown on a table, letting you flick through them with your finger, or you can just use the standard mode that lines them all up.
The LG Viewty | KU990 also has a built-in FM radio (I like because my ipod shuffle doesn’t have!), an MP3 player (with 1GB memory!), 3G with HSDPA and a video player. For the business user the phone has a web browser and a document viewer, supporting Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDF files (I am going to be sophisticated and make use of this!).
This is a fairly large phone at 103.5mm tall, 54mm wide and 14.8mm thick. At 112g it is approaching the weight and girth of a proper smartphone. I was actually considering the Samsung Omnia but my friend said I don’t need a smartphone… *brawls* BUT I WANT A PHONE THAT HAS SOLITARE IN IT and a TOUCHSCREEN! So now since the LG Viewty | KU990 doesn’t come with it, I shall have to find a way to download it!
I’m glad I made this impulse purchase (because I lost my temp phone (which of course had to be set in silent mode) and my original Sony Ericsson phone fell into the toilet bowl and the battery got pregnant with pee). Impulse because the 3 main telecos here are having the very much publicised price war, and yours truly shall jump in and benefit from it!
And it’s cheap! =)
The ONLY small THINGS I don’t really like? It has to be the lack of cover for the camera, lack of Wi-Fi and camera mode switch is a little tough to move. Other than that, I like I like! If you ask me, before the Apple iPhone even makes it’s entrance into Singapore, it is already shown what GREAT touchscreen phones are by Samsung, HTC and LG!
I just have no idea why they call it Viewty. LG always comes up with weird phone names. Shine or Prada anyone?!
Psst! The photos in my last blog post were all taken using my new camera phone! :D The blur ones are taken with the not-so-good front camera. The night shot of the Ratatouille show is DAMN GOOD RIGHT!
