Brunch at The Halia – Raffles Hotel

Newly opened at the luxurious and picturesque Raffles Hotel is the new urban-chic sibling of the award-winning The Halia at Singapore Botanic Gardens – The Halia at Raffles Hotel. I really love the decor indoor. It has lush greenery (including an entire tree in the restaurant) and a very relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for those long chit-chats with girlfriends.

Previously home to Seah Street Deli, the recently opened The Halia at Raffles Hotel is here to wow.

LeRoy & Jael extended a kind invitation to me one beautiful Saturday for brunch! I thought it would be at Botanical Gardens but imagine my delight when I realised it’s as centrally located as The Raffles Hotel, near CityHall MRT! :) <3 it.

I don’t know about you but weekends are best welcomed over brunch with people you enjoy spending time with.

This time around, I had brunch with new and old friends. LeRoy & Jael from Foodnews, HollyJean and David, Hong Peng, and Amanda (my colleague). We shared platter after platter of breakfast delights!

Weekends always start right with a beautiful breakfast platter like the Grilled Breakfast with Any Style Eggs (with an option to have it fried, poached, as an omelette or scrambled), accompanied with Italian pork sausage, sweetened bacon, Portobello mushroom, vine tomato and toasted sourdough.

I’m not a fan of fries mostly cos it’s oily and unhealthy, so it’s not much of a surprise I wasn’t the biggest fan of this though the dips that came with it were AWESOME! I had to stop myself from eating more!

These Potato Fries ($8) came paired with truffle aioli and piquant mayo dip. The truffle aioli complemented the texture and taste of the potato fries very well.

Another interesting one we tried was the Polenta Coated Asparagus ($9) from the side order menu. These came with a basil lemon mayo dip which made me conclude that The Halia is very good with their dips!!

This White Bean Iberico Chorizo Leek Stew (S$16) with egg sunny side up, smoked chipotle sauce, tomato and fine herbs, makes quite a dish. The serving is huge for one, so do order to share between two people. I love the blend of the tomato and herbed flavours in there. If only it came with some bread for dipping! Def

I found it a little weird to eat this at brunch though. I am a stew’s-for-dinner girl.

Serving right up next were a joyful looking platter of Pancakes ($12) with bacon butter, fresh strawberries and puree. What a good price for such a generous serving! I really love the bacon butter (the white globs you see). It totally ups the wow factor for this dish. I’d totally come back for this but the next dish is my ultimate favourite!

This Sous Vide Wagyu Rump Cap (S$36) served with buttered brocollini, truffle mash, slow roast cherry tomato and drizzled with tarragon jus, is a definite MUST TRY. The slices of beef were juicy and tender. It was really perfectly cooked. The truffle mash was DA BOMB. It is so nice that I am still thinking about it today.

Truffle, when overused, can be a little “jelat” but this truffle mash is really one of the best I have ever tried. The greens on the side are yums too. Easily my favourite dish here.

When you’re in The Raffles Hotel, how can you miss trying what they’re well known for?

We each had a tall glass of the restaurant’s popular signature cocktail, Singapore Sling by Hendrick’s (S$28), an adaptation of the iconic original creation with the addition of Hendrick’s Gin, which has unique rose and cucumber infusions, and a secret orange liqueur.

It was strong but I liked it alot. A must-try!

Oh yes, be sure to make room for dessert because you have to try their Sticky Toffee Pudding (S$10), topped with vanilla ice cream, butterscotch sauce and a sprinkle of sea salt. It’s very yummy. It was warm and when paired with cold ice cream, it made for a perfect combination to end off a lovely brunch. First time I ever had a Sticky Toffee Pudding, definitely won’t be the last.

One last group photo! :)
