An Episode of My Life at an Agency

Tell you all something very funny!

Characters:
Fion* – my account servicing colleague
Printer – the people who print brochures
The client – whose whimps are our commands
Production manager – the lady in charge of all production matters in our agency.
Before I even begin, I am giggling already!
**
Okay, we have a chinese brochure project that I handled for Fion when she was on leave. This brochure was checked carefully up down inside out and I even went down to meet the client and went through it page by page. The client had some colour changes (the same shit – blue not blue enough. -_-!!!) but told us to proceed to send it out for print once the colour changes has been made.
So fine. I went back and told my production manager to go ahead but not the colour changes required. She even went down to the printer to check the printing in progress. So fine and well, we delivered on the promised date and more than 2 weeks has passed.
Job closed right? Well, nope! This morning I came in and Fion told me that while she was photocopying the printed chinese brochure to indicate amendments for a second batch to be printed, she realised that there was one page with only pictures and all the text were missing!!!
When you work in an advertising agency, this has got to be one of the worst news you can hear. Especially if you are the one servicing the client/account – the ONE responsible for the mistake!
I was quite sure that the text were there when I last checked it. It must have been an oversight on the printer’s part.
The production manager checked and yup, sure enough it was someone’s fault from the printer.
The damage? We printed 500 copies and the client sent them ALL over to China for a roadshow.
So since we didn’t hear from the client about the mistake, it means she hasn’t seen it. It has been like 2 weeks so that would mean the event would have been over already right? So prolly they distributed everything and the client doesn’t have a copy?? Is that even erm, some sick kind of good news?!
Luckily the printer is going to absorb ALL the cost for that batch of brochures.
Fion was going to tell the client and hope the client wouldn’t go crazy.
At the meeting, the client coincidentally brought up the topic about the chinese brochures and that it was all for nothing. Fion and I went like: “huh?! “How did she know?!” But the client continued to say that they shipped some “bottled water” along with the brochures and………….

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA IT GOT STOPPED BY THE CUSTOMS!!!!!!!! So the event is this weekend and lol!! The brochures are still stuck!! That’s why she and her colleague in China hasn’t discovered the mistake yet!! Gosh!!!
What a joke isn’t it!!! Stopping bottled water and the brochures!! Little bombs and instruction manuals? Hahahaha!!
The laughter was bubbling out of me and I had to try so very hard not to show it on my face!
Hilarious coincidence I tell you!!
So we have decided to break the news to the client tomorrow instead. :P All will be well. If $$ is waived, client’s anger also waived. $$ talks!
