Yummy Potato Chips!

Some big brands are available in most parts of the world. I especially love exploring the local supermarkets in different countries to see what’s on the shelves! I went crazy in China’s supermarkets.

In China, LAYS’s potato chips are quite different from what we have in Singapore. One of the things I love about travelling is checking out new flavors of familiar products. It’s true that they can’t have one standard set of flavours across the world (imagine local china chinese trying to enjoy ang moh flavours like sour cream and onion or salt & vinegar!! Singapore is very much influenced by western cultures so us liking these flavours don’t count) – so it’s really quite interesting to see how they have tried to adapt their flavours to suit the locals. Don’t even get me started on all the marketing theories behind this strategy (sheesh! haha!).

Anyway, they have flavours like “braised pork”, “black pepper rib eye steak”, “kimchi flavour”, “spicy seafood” and even, “cucumber!” I think potato chips that’s flavoured erm, “cucumber” are disgusting but my friend insists otherwise! I bought one back with me and I have yet to find the courage to try.

Cucumber??? Why?!

P.s.: The “Braised Pork” and “Black Pepper Rib Eye Steak” flavours are DAMN GOOD. No, serious. Like really super good.
