This CRAZE of Bubblies Tea & Rubik's Cube!

I hope and I pray!!! I do not get addicted to Bubble Tea. As I type this, I feel myself sinking into the inevitable’ness of THE BUBBLE TEA addiction already.

Sigh.

Today I tried this weird new flavour. Lychee Yoghurt With Bubbles. YEEK! WEIRD! Green Tea is the best. Somehow getting the wrong flavour just makes me wanne get my favourite Champagne Grape Ice Blended!

Sigh.

Oh oh! My latest hobby is magical. You know why? It makes my 25 mins train ride to work seem like 10 mins!

It is the mind-boggling, RUBIK’S CUBE!

Ya I know this one very old-fashioned already but hey, when I was young, I owned ONLY ONE of these and I hated that very one to death. Simply because no matter how I tried, it just couldn’t be solved! I even contemplated peeling off the damn happy look coloured stickers on each surface so as to match it!

Back then, internet wasn’t wide-spread and I had 12 thick volumes of some encyclopedia series collecting dust somewhere. But that was then. How was I to know that there was a structured formula to solving the Rubik’s Cube! Well, now internet is widespread!

My brother, the twerp, has finally found his calling in life. Yes. That is to solve the Rubik’s Cube within 1 min. Yes. 1 friggin’ minute!

Apparently, me the noob, is WAY slow (I take 10 mins + and sometimes I twist it wrongly and I have to restart).

Look, 1 friggin’ minute is mind-boggling speed! My brother can’t be the best in the world so I goggle somemore and guess what, the WORLD RECORD HOLDER is Erik Akkersdijk (Netherlands) who solved the same Rubik’s Cube that I am holding in 7.08 seconds.

I don’t know what to say. It’s too speedy.

My aim now is to solve it within 10 mins every single time, successfully (no restarts). Then I will aim for 5 mins and then slowly conquer my brother, the twerp.

I just wish the Rubik’s Cube I put in my handbag wasn’t so colourful and bright. I am very conscious of people staring!! LOL! Wear working clothes, look serious and all, then suddenly whip out a colourful toy. -_-” What a sight I make. Hahahaha!

Some other information which you might find interesting:

  • Blindfold, fastest time (including memorising): 54.22 sec, Rafal Guzewicz (Poland) at the Polish Open on 7 June 2008
  • Blindfold, fastest time (time does not include memorising): 23.06 seconds, Clément Gallet (France) at the European Rubik’s Cube Championship 2006 in Paris
  • Blindfold, most cubes: 24, Tim Habermaas (Germany) at the German Open 2008 in Gütersloh
  • One handed: 14.56 sec, Yu Nakajima (Japan) at the Tokyo Open on 2 August 2008
  • With feet only: 36.94 sec, Chang Jee-Hoon (South Korea) at the Suwon Cube Championship on 15 August 2008
  • 24 hours: 3,390, Zbigniew Zborowski (Poland) on 23/24 June 2006

I have this link which I am going to dedicate a lot of time to reading. It has the tricks to solving the Rubiks Cube in merely 2-freaking-6 moves.

All the cubes’ records I mentioned above is for the standard 3 X 3 X 3 one (as seen in photo). There are 4 X 4 X 4 and 5 X 5 X 5 cubes too! WAY TOO MIND-BOGGLING!
