The Power of Scent – An Essential Oils Workshop by Spa Esprit

Know this! More than a fragrance/scent, essential oils (click to know what are essential oils) when used with education, can help your body heal itself. They kill viruses and bacterial by penetrating cell membranes that antibiotics cannot. It doesn’t prevent, treat or cure diseases. But it can enhance your wellbeing.

And this is what I learnt from the workshop I attended a couple of weeks ago at Beauty Emporium’s Spa Esprit who uses this high quality doTERRA essential oils for a whole range of services.

Sweelin from doTERRA imparted so much of her knowledge and passion for essential oils to us – e.g.: How we can use essential oils to our benefit and integrate it into our daily lives.

Apart from using essential oils for aromatic, topical uses, did you know that you can literally consume Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils? At this interesting workshop, we were introduced to doTERRA, a new brand of Essential Oils to the market! doTERRA is made up of 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils – one of the finest aromatic extracts available in the world today!

Some common Essential Oils must-haves!

Some of the more common oils to have are:

1) Peppermint: Aid disgestive discomfort, open sinuses and airways, cool overheated skin, etc.

2) Lemon: Mood elevation, cure cough or sore throat, improve drinking water, relieve stress, etc.

3) Lavender: Aid sleep, address anxiety, relaxes, calm sensitive skin, ease motion upset, etc.

And my top 3 favourite scents are….

Ways to use Essential Oils

1) Aromatic: Like most people would, they would take essential oils to inhale, spray or diffuse in a room. I took a deep breath of the Peppermint essential oil to chase the crazy headache  I had at the event due to lack of sleep the previous night.

2) Topical: Applying directly on skin (massage) The therapist also advised me to put a couple of drops behind my ear to address the headache. :) Within an hour, I felt so much better and could enjoy the later part of the event!

3) Internal: Putting these high grade essential oils under your tongue, in a capsule, with a teaspoon of honey or dropped into water or juice as dietary supplements! Since we’re on this, plain water with the lemon essential oil and tea with peppermint essential oils were served at the event!

Spa Esprit was very generous to place in front of us a whole range of essential oils for our testing and experimentation! Us bloggers went wild! :P So intrigued by all the various different scents and their benefits!

You can blend your own shower gel, body scrub, massage oil, shampoo or moisturizer.

The Making Of THE RELAXER – my very own customised shower gel!

I wanted something very relaxing. Something that I could look forward to after a long day. I wanted to create this absolutely crazy relaxing shower gel of my very own! :P

It contains the following:

Top note: Bergamot (31 drops)

Mid note: Lavender (47 drops)

Base note: Ylang Ylang (10 drops)

Ylang Ylang’s smell is very nice but it is also very strong hence it’s a base note. It will last longer than Bergamot, a top note. I also wanted more lavender smell rather than Bergamot, that’s why I put more lavender in it! :)

The outcome is a very very luxuriously smelling shower gel that I might not bear to use! :)

Want to buy my “THE RELAXER” shower gel? LOL.

This is so cool! Just last night I was googling for aromatherapy oil (I’m having Chakra treatment withdrawal, hahaha) and doTerra came up high on the results page, so I clicked it. So disappointed to learn that I just missed the workshop as I really want to find out more about this (as well as get some oils for my personal use). :(

Yes you can add a few drops inside the foam and it’ll smell great already. Esp if you are using the more expensive essential oils!
