The #CookForFamily initiative

I #CookForFamily! Alright you’re probably wondering what on earth that hashtag means. Well, the #CookForFamily is a Singapore food bloggers initiative organized by DanielFoodDiary– there is no competition, sponsors, or hidden agenda involved. It is created with a simple objective of getting more bloggers, and hopefully their fans and followers, to start cooking and bonding with their families.

Today, 6th Aug, was the day that was decided that we’ll all cook a meal for our family and loved ones and share the experience all on the same day with the hashtag #CookForFamily.

Personally, I always try to cook at home once a week – every Sunday night. The BF, whom I live with, always thinks it’s too much trouble buying, preparing, cooking, and then washing up. But we had this talk about and I had my foot down on once a week.

I mostly do chinese food cos we’re both health-conscious people and want to eat a more balanced meal. So it’s always a serving of veg, meat and soup.

Today’s dinner will be western though cos we went out the whole day and wanted to watch what later became the legendary match between Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei for the Olympic Gold Medal for Badminton. So tonight it will be a quick meal that’s easy to prepare  – Minced Chicken Pesto Pasta with heaps of veg on the side!

Here’s what I cooked!

It’s just a simple dinner. :) We cooked minced chicken with pesto sauce and mixed it into the linguine. There was also a veg which we simply boiled and added some oyster sauce for taste. I did say we prefer healthier choices!

And always have fruits! :P
