Slimming Treatment at Mary Chia

Hands up to all who has ever been for a slimming session!

And how many of you went in, came out, and left the place without really knowing what went on? More so after 6 months?

I know I have been to many but when people ask me what exactly I did in there, I wasn’t quite sure… So anyhoo, many of us have heard of Mary Chia. I was there last week to try out their slimming treatment. I met my friendly and very knowledgeable therapist, Sally and the branch manager, Queenie.

Mary Chia is very well known for their slimming treatments. They have 30 years of experience and expertise in providing premium beauty, slimming and spa services for women.

They have more than 10 slimming treatments that help women lose weight while simultaneously shaping the feminine form. Give them a visit and they’ll be able to advise you on which is best suited for you based on your own weight goals.

I was given a body composition test, whereby they measured important statistics like fat %, muscle mass, visceral fat, degree of obesity, etc.

For my body size, my desirable range for fat% and fat mass is:

Desirable Range My Measurement Difference
Fat % 21% to 35% 32% 19% to lose!!
Fat Mass 11.4kg to 23.1kg 20.2kg 8.8kg to lose!!!

And I am 3.9kg away from my ideal body weight! T_T *cries*

BMI for Asian Women of is:

<18.5 Underweight
18.5 – 23.9 Healthy weight range
24 – 26.9 Overweight
>27 Obese

My current BMI is a very very dangerous 23.5. OMG. (Ok fine, I knew I was closing in on being overweight but somehow, I managed to shuffle this knowledge right into the back of my mind….) But still, since I have this knowledge now, I can’t really ignore it anymore. :( :(

Mary Chia has a whole range of slimming treatments which I am really eager to try, like the Invigorating Cellulite Buster, Body Detoxification Treatment, and the  Laser Trim Body Refiner.

I know, I need to burn my fats, and body do I have stubborn fats in my body. :( Queenie and I discussed my weight loss objectives and my current lifestyle before recommending me to try their Body Contouring Programme by Queenie. So I took her advice. And now, let me take you through my experience.

Step 1: The Highly Skilled Ninja

Defined: Contouring therapy that is performed by a machine called G5. A slim body of a machine that helps to break our body’s fat molecules into tiny bits. So tiny that it may be released from our bodies in the form of sweat.

This step is thus named The Highly Skilled Ninja cos let’s admit it. G5 sounds like a group of highly skilled ninjas. And besides, I’ve got you remembering it too now! :P

Why G5?

See, exercise makes our fat into muscles. Firm ones. To break fat that has harden, the G5 comes in handy in softening them so that we may be rid of it easily.

My therapist was really hardworking in pushing the G5’s head round and round my tummy and then around my sides in a way that helps shape it.

She spent 15 careful mins being meticulous on my tummy area. And thereafter on my arms. Before she went to work on my arms, she analysed it by touching to feel what’s fat and what’s not before zooming in on the problem area.

After G5, I felt a little itchy. Totally normal due to increased blood circulation. Just how you’ll feel after a run on the threadmill!

Step 2: The Bloat Float

Defined: With the use of strong Air Pressure device that is wrapped around my mid-section, blood circulation is improved, and it helps drain your colon.

The Bloat Float is my pet name for step 2 cos it’s literally a bloating float. It bloats and deflats constantly for 15 mins around your tummy area. It helps improve blood circulation. Here’s how:

♥ The bloat float bloats up tightly around your entire mid section, and then releases it.
♥ The release action releases all the blood that the squeezing action held on to.
♥ This results in a strong gush of blood that rushes through your veins.

Step 3: The Swinger

Defined: A capsule-like swinging machine in which you lie down and the whole machine swings you from left to right. The capsule is also heated.

Why I named step 3 The Swinger? Yes you guessed it!! It swings! Ok I’m being DUH here. So anyhoo, I got into this machine and it swung me from left to right for 15 mins. It took like 1 min to get used to the rocking and thereafter, I even fell asleep -.-!! Haha!

The best news about this is, 15 mins of lying down in this is equivalent to 45 mins of running! The heat helps to drain the body of toxins too!

Step 4: The Sushi Roll

Defined: A heated thermal wrap that envelopes your entire body to help detox by heating you till you sweat all the fatty acids and excess water (reduce water retention) out.

Last step’s named the The Sushi Roll. I’m led to room 4 where I lie on a bed and have the following wrapped on me:

♥ a plastic sheet to hold my sweat
♥ a towel
♥ the thermal wrap which emits enough heat to purge all the sweat, water and fatty acids out.

20 mins later, I was wet like I just pulled myself out of a swimming pool! See picture above!! Man It was like I just had a round of hot yoga, lying down! I was advised not to shower for 1 hour thereafter.

THE RESULTS!

I also lost 0.5kg off my weight but this is not the focus. The focus is on losing fat % and fat mass as that will really determine how fat you really are. My actual weight has never been a focus for me. It’s the amount of visceral fat rating, fat %, fat versus muscle mass within my body that matters. And my metabolic rate has to be high as well so that I can burn more fat on a day to day basis.

In short, to me, body fat instead of body weight, is the key to evaluating obesity.

The whole process took like about 45 mins to 1 hour. Sally taught me so much about slimming and we discussed all types of slimming options like the types of exercise, the different kinds of diet, the meal replacement types of diet, slimming centres and so on. She was so knowledgeable and shared a lot of the things she learnt from her other customers. I had a lot of fun with her.

TIP: She also shared with me that since I spend very long hours sitting in the office, I must ensure to not sit for at least 30 mins after lunch if not, over time, my body shape will no longer be hour glass and I will start to look like a tree trunk.

Queenie was also very nice to ensure that I got all my questions answered cos Sally was more fluent in mandarin and I am only passable in my mandarin. I look forward to my next appointment with them. I’ll be trying out their facial or maybe another slimming session. :)
