Brunetti at Tanglin Mall is a part-alfresco Italian bistro originating from Australia. They serve all sorts of Italian Sweets, All-Day Breakfasts and other Italian main courses. Take a peek in and you’ll be distracted by the large display of their cakes, macaroons, savoury items and gelato. I spent a lot of time gawking at all the beauty. Yes, I have a sweet tooth. I wanted to order everything everything! Haha! But I have one stomach and this stomach can’t take much :(
I wanne share with you their SUPER value-for-money set dinners which go for S$23.90 NETT for a starter (soup/salad), a main and a dessert. I would totally go back again for this.
Soups go for like $8 in the ala carte menu, mains go for like $19 and desserts are like $8, this set dinner has a total value of about $35! The portions are super generous too! Superb for sharing. Anyhoo, here’s what we tried for the set dinner!
#1: Starter
The starter we tried was the Wild Mushroom Soup ($8 on the ala carte menu). Excellent excellent! It comes with a slice of freshly baked multigrain bread drizzled with olive oil. The piping hot bowl of wild mushroom soup had chunks of mushrooms in every creamy spoonful. I would order this again! :) The set menu also allows you to order a salad if you wish for something lighter. :)
Oh yes and not part of the menu, I had a cappuccino too. Excellent stuff.
#2: Mains
A) Homemade Tagliatelle with Chicken, Mushrooms, Truffle and Cream Sauce ($18.90 on the ala carte menu)
The portion is super generous isn’t it! I absolutely loved this dish. The texture of the tagliatelle was done to perfection (the way I like it, a little soft) and the taste of truffle gave this dish the oomph needed to get me back to Brunetti. I like that they use tagliatelle instead of angel hair or other thinner types of pasta for this dish (you can choose any other types of pasta you want when you order). The flavours and ingredients demands a noodle that is wider so that the textures all blend well in one mouthful. :) LOVE THIS.
B) Wild Mushroom Risotto ($18.90 on the ala carte menu)
The next one doesn’t really photograph well, but it was just as good as the pasta above. The taste was kinda similar so I would ask you to choose based on whether you prefer pasta or rice.
C) Linguine Seafood ($19 on the ala carte menu)
This is like the ultimate comfort food! The cherry tomatoes were super sweet and fresh. The noodle was done to perfection. There was a lemon tinge to this dish and it just made the whole thing very appetising. I would order this again too! :)
I would recommend you go for this if you order the Wild Mushroom Soup, otherwise it might be overly creamy/mushroomy in one dinner. :)
We also tried the Chicken and Asparagus Risotto ($18) but I didn’t like it much. It could do with more ingredients because it kinda felt like it was a lot of risotto and cream.
#3: Dessert Time
A) Pear and Cheese Crumble ($10 per slice)
This disappointed kinda. None of the flavours in this were obvious. I didn’t taste the pear at all. I read very good reviews of this online and was looking forward to trying it. Maybe my expectations were too high.
The crust was neither hard or crumbly or soft… it tasted kinda soggy. :( Apart from the all that, I did like the cheese filling. It was light and melted in my mouth.
B) Limoncello ($8 per slice)
This was surprisingly good. The limoncello-soaked sponge cake was very light and airy and went well with the fresh lemon cream that was layered in between. If you ordered another sweet dessert together with this, do finish this first before eating the other sweet desserts otherwise this may seem tasteless. On it’s own, the sweetness level was prefect. :)
C) Flourless Chocolate Soufflé ($8 per slice)
Oh my. Decadent heavens. This flourless chocolate soufflé is dense and very chocolately. I loveeeeee chocolate. Very filling one though. Order a coffee to go with this because it can get too much after awhile and do share with a friend!
The chocolate fudge on the top was very yummy. The level of sweetness for this dish was controlled well with the sweet chocolate fudge and the not so sweet chocolate sponge cake. Thumbs up!
D) Opera ($8 per slice)
This is yums! Of all the desserts we tried, this is my favourite! I like the contrasting flavours that were layered alternatively. The layers of almond sponge wth cointreau, coffee & chic buttercream was just perfect. It wasn’t overly chocolate and had a good balance of flavours and texture to this. I would totally order this again!
E) Macaroons!
Who can resist these colourful sugar bites? Brunetti has a huge selection of flavours you can choose from ($2.25 each). I tried only the blue one and it was not overly sweet (like how some could be) and made the perfect end to a lovely dinner. The texture of the shell was smooth and just a little chewy, and in my humble opinion, giving a lot of other Macaroons a run for their money.

We also ordered their pizzas… yeh it was wayyy too much food. They are SUPERB for sharing because the portion is huge. These pizzas are also photograph super well.
Both were thin crusts and I like that the edges were charred to a nice crisp but the insides are slightly chewy. The tomato sauce base was made with very sweet tomatoes and this sweetness goes so well on the pizza.
A) Donna Regina ($19.90)
B) Proseuitto Conrucola S$20 (Not in menu – Margherita with additional topping of Prosecuitto & Rucola)
Oh wait, before I end off, we couldn’t resist the impressive gelato display so we got ourselves a medium cup ($8) and ordered the chocolate and hazelnut flavours. Both were SUPERB! <3
