We joined a tour package with Dynasty Travel from Singapore that included this cruise. What a great choice it was for us because it allowed us to see the lovely Mediterranean & Aegean Sea and the picturesque greek islands in the shortest and most efficient way possible.
On our 5 day Greek Island and Turkey Cruise itinerary with Louis Olympia, we departed from Athens, Piraeus and visited a total of 6 islands – Mykonos, Kudasasi, Patmos, Crete, Rhodes and Santorini.
Each of these islands were unique in their own way and it is worth your time visiting every one of them.
First stop was Mykonos. Mykonos is a very beautiful little town, famous for their whitewashed cube like houses, chapels and windmills.
There were land tours for all the islands except for Mykonos so we were on a free and easy roam once we disembark. Louis Olympia dropped us off right at the port and we paid an extra EUR 8 per person for the land transfer two ways to the capital of the island – Hora.
Hora is right by the sea and has charming narrow cobbled streets, chi chi boutiques, tourist shops, and cafes of all sorts. Beautiful little town for photographs. If you walk all the way from one end of the town to the other, you’ll find the three iconic windmills. They are giant and a pleasure to look at.
The cruise gives you about 5 hours in this town which is good enough for wondering the little alleyways, take all the photos you want and still have time for a romantic seafood dinner by the sea. We regret not doing so as it turned out, this was the only port of call that had enough time for us to do so. There are heaps of little cafes facing the beach and the sunset. Get a drink and enjoy the view.
Louis Olympia serves 3 meals a day so we ate dinner when we got back onboard. This is the hubby’s favourite island of all. :) If we had a Greek Island we want to come back to, it’ll be MyKonos.
