More Singaporean women getting ovarian cancer

For every 100,000 women in Singapore, 15.5 will come down with this Ovarian Cancer, a rate more than twice that of 40 years ago (source)
Ovarian Cancer  is the 5th most common cancer among Singaporean women
The signs and symptoms are non-specific, so sometimes we won’t even know when we have it

That’s basically saying, anyone of us is at risk of Ovarian cancer and until there is a test, awareness is best!

I don’t know about you, but these are worrying stats and I have an important message to share. Thanks to Singapore Cancer Society, I got to equip myself with everything I need to know about Ovarian cancer via an intimate blogger session at Canele.

About Ovarian Cancer
♥ 5th most common cancer among Singaporean women.
♥ Each year, there are 290 cases and about 100 women die from it.
♥ In Singapore, 1 in 80 women faces Ovarian Cancer in their lifetime.

Signs and Symptoms of Ovarian Cancer
♥ Bloated feeling in the abdomen
♥ Abdominal distension
♥ Abdominal discomfort
♥ Backache or ache in the legs
♥ Change of bowel habits
♥ Urinary complaints
♥ Abnormal vaginal bleeding
♥ Loss of weight

Vigilance is key – Consult a doctor immediately if you experience some or all of the symptoms. Note! Ovarian cancer is usually diagnosed only in the advanced stages because it has no specific symptoms unique to ovarian cancer.

Early detection can increase the chances of survival and improve the quality of life.
