Momiji Shabu Shabu Buffet @ Shaw Balestier

The newly established Momiji Shabu Shabu has opened its doors at Shaw Balestier. It is Singapore’s first-ever collagen hotpot buffet!

Peter and I tried it the other day when they just opened and omg it was VERY GOOD!

Here’s how the collagen looks like when the hotpot is not heated up yet. The divine soup base is made of collagen pudding, which is the culmination of six hours of simmering kampong chicken. Such long hours of simmering ensures that the chicken bones are fully dissolved — every bit of goodness goes into the broth. The broth is then cooled, solidifying into a silky smooth pudding that brims with collagen.

After we heat it up, it becomes soup and ready for steam boating!! :) The buffet spread is pretty good too. It has over 100 items including delicatessens such as Kurobuta pork, half-shell scallops, deep red sea prawns, Asari clams and a lot of fresh vegetables.

Ok guys, the deep sea red prawns is to DIE for. I would totally come back JUST for the red prawns. That’s how awesome it is.

There’s a wide variety of sushi to bouncy fish balls, handmade bamboo meat pastes to crunchy vegetables.

There’s also a selection of cooked food if you can’t wait for your steamboat to start up! :)

I also loveeee that their special dipping sauces or you can also create your own from a total of 12 different dipping sauce choices.

For every two pax dining in, customers will get a complimentary premium item of either wagyu beef or snow crab. We tried the snow crab and it was soooo sweet!! I wish it was part of the buffet!

Drinks are included as well but do make sure to try their specially imported Iced Matcha Tea and Iced Ocha Tea. Personally I love the lemon flavoured Ocha Tea more. :) But both are very good :)

Oh yes, you can also grind some Himalayan Pink Salt and add it into your soup. It is a natural and pure mineral substance gathered from the Himalayas. For thousands of years, the salt has been used as a natural medicine. Other than the Himalayan Pink Salt, you can customise the flavour of the soup to your liking with the Collagen Shoyu or Hot Kimchee Paste.
