Long overdue "HELLO I AM STILL ALIVE" post

Hello my dear friends! I am in Paris now, so Bonjour! Today is the 8th out of 11 days of my Italy-France trip.

I will be staying 3 nights here in Paris. So far, so good. I will be going heavy on the museums – statues, scluptures, paintings, history, ah… you know, all the arty thing.

I have come quite far from the last post I made (damn hotels I stayed in all no internet!!).

From beautiful Rome, to touristy Florence, to my dream-come-true Pisa, to quaint Venice, to “romeo and juliet”‘s Verona, to boring Milan and here my second last stop – Paris.

There’s so much I want to say and so many pictures!! And so little time. It’s like 1am now in Paris and I have to get myself to bed like NOW in order to make it through to tomorrow.

I have no idea how much $$$$$$$ thousands?? *gulp* I have spent so far but I guess I will worry about that later when I get back.

This Friday morning, I will leave Paris for Manchester and then back to London for a day, then back to Singapore. While I miss my friends and my lifestyle (AND FOOD) in Singapore, it’s REALLY addictive that I can just hop on a train, bus or airplane (for a small amount) and be in a new city very quickly. So much to see, so much to do, so humbling an experience.

Like any other Singaporean, I also thought that Singapore is so expensive to live in, the taxi rides are expensive, the ERP… etc etc… a trip to Europe made me realise that the more advanced cities are way MORE expensive than Singapore. A taxi ride here starts at 4 Euros (roughly times 2.25 for SGD). The ERP in London is 8 Pounds (roughly times 3 for SGD). A simple meal here can cost anything from 20 Euros to 35 Euros, that’s SGD50 to 80! That should explain why I am broke! Haha!

The hotels! My goodness, 1 star hotel can cost the same as a 5 star hotel in Singapore. The VAT here is 12% as well.

What’s cheap here? Wine. Beer. Alcohol. Strawberries (wtf? Haha). Things that we are used in to Singapore is expensive here. Things that we rarely get or are costly, cost very little here.

The highlight of my trip so far? Definitely climbing the 294 steps up the Leaning Tower of Pisa! I don’t know why but to see the actual tower leaning at an incredible angle and still be sturdy enough to support visitors is bloody amazing. I felt so small.

I should stop mumbling on and on like a headless chicken. Will post in detail when I get back. Right now, my feet hurt. I am SICK of reading maps. VERY sick of getting lost. But very very excited and grateful still, to be here experiencing all that I have ever dreamed of.

Take care you all! Ciao!
