Ipoh Part 2

Ok I know I have procrastinated enough.

Are you guys thinking, “how does she decide when is enough?” Haha I really try never to push my “enough”. But well.

Anyhow, look what I came back with from IPOH!

My host was very nice to be determined to make sure we actually did “experience” Ipoh by eating as much as all the three-thumbs up food Ipoh has to offer.

What’s a trip to Ipoh without White Coffee?

The coffee was really different. It’s not as sickly sweet as the overly commercialised 3-in-1 types. It’s nice I guess. I was never really a coffee person. I mean I do enjoy the occasional ice-blended mocha but I am hardly one to be able to tell a mocha from a erm, coffee? LOL. Sorry.

My little cousin polished the whole cup off. I shared some with my granny and she seemed to like it.

My host says XIN YUAN FOONG (below) serves the BEST IPOH WHITE COFFEE. He wishes to have more time and wants to document all that he eats onto a blog but well, guess that’s not going to happen as his business grows.

One more look at the lone coffee.

If you like, here’s the pricelist!

Moving on, we had lunch at….

…. “Dai Shue Keok”. Well it’s fondly known as that (translated to be: Big Tree Foot) to the locals. This place is located at Pasir Pinji and guess what goody foody it boasts of?

YONG TAU FOO!

Apparently, parking can be quite hellish but it doesn’t deter well-dressed executives in flashy cars tucking in happily, sweat and all.

YONG TAU FOO @ RM0.50-0.60 apiece.

The fried stuff are crispy and the fish meat is springy! I enjoyed the very special fried turnip! Go try!

After being back in SG, then I read online that the porridge here also quite nice. DAMMIT.

Parking so expensive!

My host was eager to let my cousin try custard and since they were advertising about selling custard, we ordered 2. Look, my friend, at the glass of ice water that came with it! That is how sweet the custard is gonne be.

I took a bite and I am no fan of custard. Too darn sweet. My little cousin polished off everything again. Ok maybe she is not THAT little.

The green chillis really look very yummy. Too bad I don’t dare to eat chilli as a whole like that. Wait, maybe “don’t dare” is not the right phrase to describe it. Just was maybe too full then to want to try.

Ok there is a part 3 coming up. If you haven’t seen my part 1, here it is!

A strong cup of local coffee & slices of toasts looks like a really scrumptious treat. Miss the great food found in Ipoh. Have a good week!
