AquaBambinos – Swimming Lessons for Kids in Singapore

Like most parents, my husband and I are drawn to the many benefits of swimming lessons for kids. My sons, Nathen (1.5 yrs old) and Daniel (4 yrs old), are now currently going for swimming lessons at AquaBambinos.

AquaBambinos Swim School

AquaBambinos is a swim school that holds swimming lessons for kids as young as 6 months old to 7 years old. Set up in 2012, it’s a truly child-friendly establishment with facilities like:

  • Indoor heated swimming pool, comfortable temperature of 30-32 degrees celcius
  • Salt water cholorination instead of adding direct chlorine
  • Hot water showers
  • Baby changing tables
  • Waiting area with heaps of children storybooks
  • Swim toys to engage the young swimmers

All of their swim coaches are AUSTSWIM-certified to conduct infant swimming lessons (6 to 12 months), toddler swimming lessons (12 to 36 months) and children swimming lessons.

Nathen’s Swim Lesson

Nathen’s been attending swimming lessons for 2 months now. His is a parent-accompanied class. Nathen’s usually very sticky with me, so we intentionally agreed to have my husband accompany him in his swim class because it allows them to bond.

I don’t expect Nathen to master swimming. At his age, I just want him to have fun, be confident and comfortable in water.

Each lesson is 30mins long and is filled with nursery songs, toys and fun. It will have up to 5 babies, all accompanied by one parent each. They will all be in the pool learning how to glide and submerge in the wate with the help of the learning aids and swim toys that they have plenty of at the pool. The swim toys really do help to engage the children during lessons.

At lesson 2, we submerged him underwater for the first time and my heart swelled with pride! Look at him go in the photo below!!

At lesson 3, he started kicking his legs in water when we held him in a horizontal floating position.

He was nervous at the first class but subsequently, Nathen’s Coach totally won him over. Coach Celeste is absolutely sweet, patient, cheerful, and most importantly, very good at engaging him. Over the past many weeks, we have seen him grow to be more responsive and comfortable in water. He also looks forward to his weekly classes and him having fun is really all that matters. :) I’m so proud of his progress so far and so thankful to Coach Celeste.

“Every coach has their own coaching style, and it’s important for your kid to be comfortable with it.”

To conclude, I think we found a gem of a coach for Nathen. :) She’s great for him. Like most swimming lessons for kids in Singapore, it all begins with a trial class. A trial class at AquaBambinos is an actual 30mins long class with a swimming coach, and other existing students. It’s a great way to to see if you and your child like the environment and coaches.

Hi Jon, sure, my elder child’s (5yr old) coach is coach daryl. my younger boy’s (2 yr old) coach is coach celeste

Both their styles are different. Coach Daryl is firm but knows how to balance it well with fun and humour for the children. Coach celeste is very kind, patient, and smiley. Great for younger kid’s first introduction to water I think.
